Recent News:

THE PHOTOS ARE IN:   May 4th, 2010.  I finally found time to take some photos of our new lab and upload them onto this site.  Please click HERE for your viewing pleasure.

EXPANSION BECOMES REALITY:   April 1st, 2010.  This is the date we move into our brand new, state-of-the-art totally GLP compliant facility located at the "crossroads of central Massachusetts" (Route 146 and the Massachusetts Turnpike).  We will have a histology lab, a plastic section lab, a special stains lab, a GLP lab, a grossing lab, a ventilated lab and a clean room to be used exclusively for New England Horse Labs.  The labs will have a back-up electrical system powered by a natural gas generator, security system and a bunch of offices for staff and consulting veterinarians and veterinary pathologists.  PLEASE ADDRESS YOU DELIVERIES ACCORDINGLY.

NEW TOLL-FREE TELEPHONE NUMBER:  January 21, 2010.  Effective immediately, our new toll-free telephone number is (877) 944-4786, otherwise known as (877) 94-HISTO.

ANOTHER NO PRICE INCREASE ANNOUNCEMENT:  November 18, 2009.  We have decided to once again maintain our prices for another year.  In the last 8 years, salaries, health benefits, supplies and the general cost of living has risen drastically, yet MHS has kept its prices level.  How long can we keep going without raising our prices?  We're in the process of contacting Guinness World Book Of Records to find out if we've broken the record yet.  If it takes another year or two to break the record, then heck, we'll do it!

VOTED BEST HISTOPATHOLOGY LAB ON EARTH!:  October 24, 2009.  I was with my Mom yesterday and I asked her:  "Mom, which is the best histopathology lab on earth?" And she immediately answered:  "Why, of course it's your lab!"  Thanks Mom.

RUMORS OF ANOTHER EXPANSION?:  September 15, 2009.  Yes, the rumors are true!  Because of our phenomenal success in offering quality histopathology at reasonable pricing, we are forced, for the fourth time in nine years, to expand our facilities.  Every time we expand, we build out to meet our expected needs for at least 5 years yet within two years, we outgrow the facilities.  Are we complaining?  Heck no!  Right now, the plans are still in the architectural phase and we're looking for the move to take place in April, 2010.  Stay tuned ...

MASS HISTO OPENS A SUBSIDIARY COMPANY:  January 31, 2009.  Mass Histology Service, Inc. has formed an equine specialty testing Lab and has named it "New England Horse Labs".  This lab will focus on testing horses for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA), Contagious Equine Metritis (CEM) and equine CBCs, chemistry profiles, fecals and of course histopathology.  Please visit our homepages at  www.nehorselabs.com

MHS BECOMES INCORPORATED:  January 1, 2009.  Mass Histology Service is now Mass Histology Service, Inc.

CEM and EIA CERTIFICATION:  November 10, 2007.  After nearly a week of intense training in Ames, Iowa, Jim Staruk received his federal USDA certification to sign-out CEM and EIA test results to all of our equine veterinarians.  There's only a hand-full of certified people across the country who can do this!  Congratulations Jim!

TOXICOLOGICAL VETERINARY PATHOLOGIST:  November 1, 2007.  To keep up with our growing demand in research pathology, another experienced, board certified and licensed veterinary pathologist whose specialty is toxicological pathology has been added to our list of pathologists.  Give us a call to speak directly to him about your future experimental investigations.

ANOTHER EXPANSION!:  September 1, 2007.  To keep up with your demand for quick and reliable service, we recently doubled the size of our lab and added additional staff to serve our ever-growing client list.  We'll add photos of our new lab as soon as possible.  Please stay tuned.  It'll be worth the wait.  It's beautiful!

TOLL-FREE FAX:  November 22, 2006.  We hate to see our customers spend money.  To save us from this anguish, we've added a toll-free FAX line.  Our new FAX number is (866) 554-4553.

HUMAN PATHOLOGIST ADDED TO STAFF:  August 19, 2006.  The family at Mass Histology Service just keeps on growing!  You asked for him and we delivered.  For those in need of slide review of human tissue, we have added another pathologist.  This one is board certified in human pathology.  So send those research tissues in.  He's eager, anxious and very good at what he does.

ON-LINE REPORTING / STORAGE:  January 1, 2006.  All of our customers can now retrieve their pathology reports via our secure homepage, protected by their own unique password.  No matter if the reports are daily surgical specimens or large toxicological studies, the complete results are available seven days a week, 24 hours a day, no matter where they dial in from.  Please ask one of our sales representatives to explain this newest service which, by the way, is free to all of our customers.

INTRODUCING OUR REVOLUTIONARY TIER PRICING SYSTEM:  August 8, 2005.  Now, for the first time ever and exclusively offered only by MHS, you name your price for histology service.  We now have three types of services to fit just about everyone's histology budget.  Learn about the following choices on our PRICING page:

          - "First come, first served"
          - "Cutsies"
          - "I need it yesterday"

NEW LAB!  October 1, 2004.  Mass Histology Service moved into a brand new, state of the art histopathology facility in Worcester, Massachusetts (hence the name "Mass" Histology).  The laboratory features the latest in equipment and a custom HVAC air circulating and ventilating system specially designed to keep our employees happy and healthy.  It is 100% handicapped assessable and OSHA compliant.  If you're ever in town, please feel free to stop in to say hello.  We usually have a hot pot of coffee brewing and we use real milk here!  Click HERE to view some photos of the new facilities.

PASSED!  September 22, 23 and 24, 2004.  Mass Histology Service had the honor and privilege of being audited by an investigator from the Federal Drug Administration.  Although I won't use her name, I want to say that she was one of the nicest people I've ever met.  Being very thorough (although fair) while she evaluated a recent GLP project we are working on.  In the end, we were cited for only a few very minor deficiencies that were rectified even before she left the premise.  Although we can't say we are "FDA Certified" (because there is no such thing), we can say were were audited by the FDA and passed the test with no major citations!
